UnityPoint Health Speech Pathologist-Outpatient Therapy West in West Des Moines, Iowa
Coordinates speech, language, voice, and swallowing therapy plans following completion of the assessment as defined by Iowa Licensure requirements. Acts as a resource to the interdisciplinary team, applying skills of the profession to enhance outcomes of persons served. Actions are team oriented to successfully provide quality care and a high level of satisfaction for persons served through evidence - based practice.
Evaluates speech, language, voice, and swallowing abilities, sets goals, implements treatment, and monitors response of persons served for diagnosis requiring speech language interventions. Supports evidence based practices.
Coordinates plan of treatment with persons served, families and other disciplines
Accurately documents and bills according to regulatory and third party requirements. Documentation and billing for services exhibit an understanding of requirements and ethical practices.
Reports any questions or concerns regarding compliance immediately to the attention of department or organization/hospital administrative staff.
Manages resources effectively to meet the needs of persons served while eliminating waste.
Manages personal and professional skills and knowledge, sharing expertise with others to enhance the overall skill level of the profession.
Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.

EDUCATION: Graduated from an accredited Speech Pathology program. Must read, write, speak and comprehend English. Must be able to communicate effectively (written and orally) with people of diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: Licensed or in the process of obtaining licensure to practice Speech Pathology in the state of Iowa as defined in the Iowa Speech Pathologists and Audiologists Regulation and Practice Act. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
