Responsibilities

MercyOne Des Moines is looking for a qualified Dietitan to join their Baratrics team. This exciting position is a .8 FTE.

What you’ll do:

  • Assists with planning and developing services for the referred clients enrolled in the Bariatrics/Optifast/Optitrim and traditional weight reduction programs.

  • Assists in developing, evaluating, revising and organizing educational materials, classes and teaching materials.

  • Conducts nutrition-associated classes for bariatric surgery, Optifast/Optifast and traditional weight loss clients throughout the day including evening hours.

  • Assists in developing Continuous Quality Improvement programs, identifying problems, establishing criteria and standards, collection of data and summarize the results formonitoring compliance to meet Joint Commission and Bariatric Centers for Excellence criteria.

  • Assist the Director by planning, coordinating, and integrating the clinical aspects of dietetics and weight reduction to provide optimal nutritional care as prescribed for clients of all agesincluding; children, adolescents, adult and geriatrics.

  • Provides direction and nutrition education teaching skills for dietetic interns to promote nutrition and weight reduction counseling intervention. Supports professional relationships with allied team members regarding nutrition for clients who have additional health and disease-related concerns.

  • Assists with developing marketing material for physicians, clients, and the public.

  • Monitors client’s food diaries and provides recommended changes as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or dietetics required.

  • Completion of the Coordinated Undergraduate Program, internship, traineeship or other qualifying experience approved by The American Dietetic Association is required.

  • Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.

  • Current license with the State of Iowa Code for Dietetic Practice is required.

  • One-to-two years of experience in various areas in the acute care setting of clinical dietetics is recommended.

  • Current membership with the American Dietetic Association (ADA) is recommended

  • ADA Certification in Adult Weight Management or within the first 3 years of position placement is desirable.
