Schedule: Variable days, 8 hour shifts
Job Description:
Assists the medical provider in the documentation of care provided as observed under the direction of the medical provider. Administrative duties may include documenting in Cerner, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding. Document/transcribe dictated reports in an accurate and timely manner. Return reports in Cerner to the dictator for review and signature or correction. Medical documentation of a variety of medical reports, such as history and physicals, diagnostic imaging studies, daily progress notes, consultations, operations, and final summaries. Transcribe dictated reports and translate medical jargon and abbreviations into their expanded forms. Responsible for accurate and timely assignment of ICD10-CM codes as appropriate under the direction of the medical provider. Understands and assists with functions of the Health Information Management Department and GRHS rules and regulations.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School diploma or GED
Keyboarding skills
Preferred:
Coursework in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology preferred
Eye/ ophthalmology knowledge
Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
*Maintains valid licensure/certification/registration if applicable.
