Waverly Health Center Outpatient Medical Technician 1.0FTE in Waverly, Iowa
1.0FTE, M-F, mostly days - hours may vary due to paitent needs
- Performs clerical/receptionist duties for the nursing unit and facilitates communication needs of the
- Cleans and stocks Outpatient Medical rooms with appropriate supplies to maintain a safe and clean
- Provides direct and indirect patient care within their scope of practice under the direction of a Registered
- Education, Experience, and Training
a. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
b. Medical Secretary training or knowledge of medical terminology preferred
c. Must have successfully completed a minimum of Nurse Aide I course and competency exams and be
listed as eligible for employment on the Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry (Iowa Department of
Inspections and Appeals Health Facilities Division). Completion of Nurse Aide II course preferred
d. Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee
timesheet and the performance appraisal system. Job specific systems are also required.
e. Must possess valid Healthcare Provider BLS and Mandatory Reporter training for Child and
Dependent Adult Abuse.
f. Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
a. Sitting – Approximately 50% of shift.
b. Standing– Approximately 25% of shift.
c. Walking – Approximately 25% of shift.
d. Lifting – Approximately 35 pounds. Must use, and require staff to use, when in hospital and
pre-hospital settings, proper body mechanics and ergonomics and, as applicable, lifting/moving
e. Twisting – Infrequent.
f. Bending – Moderate.
g. Squat/Kneel – Approximately 25% of shift.
May come in contact with hazardous chemicals or treatment modalities.
The possibility exists of exposure to communicable disease due to working in a healthcare environment.
Involvement in patient care may result in unavoidable work-related illnesses.
