Function: Manufacturing Engineering
Title: OFP Assembly Manufacturing Engineer - 53639
As an OFP Assembly Manufacturing Engineer, you will serve as the lead OFP ME for one of Waterloo Drivetrain Operations' 8/9R axle assembly departments. Additionally, you will:
Provide daily support for production operations while owning responsibility for maintaining a safe and ergonomic assembly environment
Establish routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, quality plans and labor standards for revisions to current operations and/or new parts or programs
Lead projects of varying scope related to change management, capital equipment acquisitions, layout changes, or product updates
Develop and maintain the department line balance and layout following the Line Balance as a Process and Flow Line Design guidelines
Support the Continuous Improvement process by identifying innovative solutions for safety, ergonomic, quality, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements
Actively support operator certification by ensuring training rigor and evaluating proficiency against engineered standards
Act as a resource and mentor to other employees

What Skills You Need
3 or more years of shop floor engineering experience
2 or more years in roles that demonstrated a working knowledge of work instructions, Operator Method Sheets (OMS), assembly manufacturing processes, tooling, and/or equipment
2 or more years of demonstrated experience developing and managing capital projects and/or technically complex projects
2 or more years of experience in roles that demonstrated a working knowledge of industrial engineering principles including line design and line balance activities
2 or more years of demonstrated ability to influence without authority, build relationships and communicate with both salary and wage workforce
1 or more years of experience training or mentoring other employees
What Makes You Stand Out
Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:
2 or more years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
2 or more years of experience with precision assembly processes including tapered roller bearing setting, spiral bevel gear adjustment, gauging, and testing
2 or more years of experience utilizing 3-D modeling software, specifically Creo/ProE and AutoCAD
1 or more years of experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems (JDAAT, AMES, SAP-MES)
1 or more years of experience working with CI200 in an incentive pay plan environment
1 or more year of experience with mixed model line design using tools such as Dynamic Line Balancing and Simulation
1 or more years of cross-functional experience in product engineering, quality engineering, operations, maintenance, tool & fixture design, components manufacturing, factory automation, or other technical fields)
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the enterprise Six Sigma, Change Control, JD-QPS and product introduction (EPDP) processes
Education (or equivalent work experience)
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Engineering Technology discipline (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Manufacturing)
