Job SummaryUnder general supervision of a Registered Nurse; is responsible for work of average difficulty involving routine nursing care; supervises a small number of Nursing Assistants; performs related work as required. Job Responsibilities-Must be capable of regular and predictable attendance at a specified location in order to perform assigned tasks. -Must be able to work overtime hours and week-ends.-Direct the work of nursing assistants-Administers medication, injections, and routine treatments -Makes staff assignments-Provides assessment, treatment and evaluation of resident's care; utilizing accepted Nursing Standards of Practice.-Accepts doctor's orders for residents and notifies administrative supervisor of any significant change in resident's condition -Assists with general health care of residents -Observes and record signs and symptoms of changes in resident's condition or behavior; with report to primary or consulting physicians when necessary-Inspects rooms. -Other duties may be assigned Minimum Required Qualifications-Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school;-Must possess current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse, valid in the State of Iowa; 15 continuing education units annually. -Minimum of six months practical nursing or CMA experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.-CPR CertifiedKnowledge, Skills & Abilities --Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional demeanor.-Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. -Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.-Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.-Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume and the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
