Description:

Through theory-based practice, the RN utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement and evaluate outcome-based care for Oncology and Hematology patients. The RN facilitates communication with physicians, patient and family, other departments and/or team members. Adheres to MercyOne performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with MercyOne.

What you will Do:  

• Conducts an initial and ongoing assessment to gather and analyze data.

• Identifies patient short and long-term goals and develops them into an outcome-based plan of care.

• Implements an outcome-based plan of care.

• Evaluates patient response to treatments and modifies the outcome-based plan.

• Communicates relevant clinical information to optimize patient outcomes.

• Educates patient and family to meet identified needs.

• Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.

• Adheres to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures.

*Hours Schedule: *  

1.0 (80 hours biweekly)

*Minimum Qualifications: *    

• Associate Degree: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing / Bachelor’s Degree preferred

• Minimum of 1-year clinical patient care experience.

• Current Iowa RN license, BLS, Mandatory Reporter. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) designation or achieve within 18 months of hire.
