Tyson Foods FSQA Technician 5 2nd Shift in Storm Lake, Iowa

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for conducting daily pre-operational and operational inspections. Upon management request and scheduling, this position also is responsible for performing physical and visual inspections of product and plant systems, documenting and calculating results accurately; taking corrective action when necessary (alert appropriate personnel to adjust process; identify, segregate, & isolate non-conforming product) and report results to management; any additional assignments requested. All team members are responsible for safety. All team members are responsible for safety. The applicant must have strong organizational skills, leadership skills, knowledgeable in HACCP, SOP’s, GMP’s, and effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of management. Adhere to all safety policies and perform other duties as necessary and as assigned by department Manager.

This position requires a rotational flexible work schedule Sunday / Monday through Thursday / Friday and meets demand time on different shifts, including coverage for 1st and 3rd FSQA supervisors as needed.

Training Programs: Pre-operational training on the job in the FSQA Department on 2nd shift for 6 weeks. Operational Inspection training on the job in the FSQA Department on 1st and 3rd shift for 15 to 18 weeks – this is a 3 weeks training schedule for each FSQA job.

REQUIREMENTS: Education: high school diploma required. Experience: 3+ years food manufacturing experience required; 3+ years’ experience with food safety and quality programs; HACCP/SQF certification preferred. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent technical writing, organizing, and planning skills. Special Skills: must possess skills to complete Tyson paperwork; ability to lead by example and motivate the hourly workforce; good problem identification and problem-solving skills; must function well under stress; must have flexibility to work where and when needed. Data analysis experience preferred. Physical Requirements: Position involves heavy lifting (70 lbs. or more). Candidate must be able to work in extreme hot and/or cold temperatures or damp environments and these areas may have slippery walking surfaces. Candidate must be willing to submit to a drug screen and post offer health assessment. Resume is Required to be consider.

Must have 4 attendance points or less at the time of job posting (for hourly TMs), or 1 instance or less at the time of job posting (for management support TMs). Must not have a safety discipline within the past year.
