Position Purpose:

Under general direction, plans, develops, coordinates and develops the administration, operation and efficient delivery of services for the components of Radiology (diagnostic, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, CT, MRI, Pain Center) and Neurophysiology. Ensures the implementation and monitoring of clinical standards and procedures developed by the medical directors of radiology and neurophysiology. Is instrumental in promoting quality of life for patients, personnel and the community served.

MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center provides material administrative and clinical support to Trinity Health / MercyOne Health Network Critical Access Hospital (CAH) within our organization, MercyOne Primghar Hospital and therefore duties within this job description in addition to MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center, also benefit the CAH, MercyOne Primghar Hospital. Anticipated percentage of time to be spent working on MercyOne Primghar Hospital is respectively reported on actual time studies.

What you will Do:

  • Demonstrates leadership, collaboration, critical thinking, and teamwork when facilitating clinical standard and operational decisions and resolving issues. Demonstrates leadership competencies of team building, vision creation, and influence. Incorporates change leadership strategies through building a compelling vision, understanding the perspectives of the stakeholders, identification for tactics to elicit commitment and address resistance.

  • Continuously assesses and improves the department’s performance based on, but not limited to, the department’s quality plan, monitors, and customer/employee satisfaction data.

  • Collaborates with health care executives in creating the organizational mission, vision and goals. Provides vision and strategic support for and directs the integration of Imaging Services, clinical and business services in the context of health informatics and the application / utilization of clinical / business information systems.

  • Develops and maintains departmental staffing plan for all departments supervised, detailing appropriate employee classifications and qualifications consistent with the department’s operational plan, projected volumes, and other relevant indicators. Participates in human resource planning providing recommendations for staffing, proactive recruitment, and long-term needs. Ensures compliance with staffing plan.

  • Develops annual operating and capital budgets, monitors and analyzes performance and productivity and implements necessary corrective plans. Collaborates with other departments in budget preparation, determining capital priorities, monitoring, and analyzing trends. Utilizes budget information in management decision-making.

  • Supervises assigned management staff. Provides necessary education, orientation, and support to the management team.

  • Improves the quality and effectiveness of the regional ministry's overall health care initiatives by providing leadership and operational direction over the Imaging Services programs. Mentors and coaches management, providers, and staff through change.

  • Serves as an expert to communicate Imaging trends and issues at the system and regional levels of the organization. Is knowledgeable and remains current in standards of treatment. Integrates new practice standards after appropriate discernment with education and written standards.

  • Collaborates and partners with other executives for strategic planning, decision-making, and problem solving about health care services and organizational priorities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of Imaging Services through equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Imaging related professional certification required, i.e., ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), ARDMS, CNMT.

  • Master's degree in healthcare administration or related healthcare/management field required.

  • At least 5 years of work experience consisting of leadership and Imaging clinical roles as well as experience at a hospital/ambulatory imaging system.

  • Exceptional leadership, management and facilitation skills. Demonstrated ability to skillfully counsel, collaborate and negotiate; inspire and build confidence in others; create alliances; obtain support and respect from diverse groups and foster an understanding and commitment to the ministry. Ability to adapt style and approach to match the needs of varying teams, individuals and situations. Extensive knowledge and experience leading and managing complex organizational change and performance improvement.

  • Advanced analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills to serve as an advisory role in inspiring and initiating innovative ideas, determining strategies without guidelines, fostering innovative approaches to situations/processes/issues.

  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise to identify, evaluate and articulate operational opportunities, risks, business needs/gaps, and understand customer/stakeholder interests.
