TitleSafety Coordinator- National TravelingCity/TownNational TravelingState/ProvinceIADescriptionInterstates is growing, and we are currently seeking an Safety Coordinator to join Interstates Construction on our National Traveling Team. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Safety Managers. This individual will also help our customers achieve a successful and safe work zone, that meets all owner/regulatory requirements, as defined in the primary job duties section, below. Interstates seeks ambitious, innovative individuals with the ability to grow and maintain value-added relationships with our team and external customers.Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:Assist the Safety Director in promoting behavioral-based safety on remote construction sitesEnsure all safety equipment and supplies are on-siteAssist in providing First Aid training and First Aid on siteComplete job-site safety audits, correcting all potential problemsMonitor and promote weekly on-site safety inspections, including logging, reporting, and documentationAssist the Safety Manager with the investigation of accidents, injuries, and "near-misses"Assist with coordinating training programs or media, which will increase proficiency in safe practice and promote safety implementation and awarenessConduct Root-Cause AnalysesAttend foreman and team safety meetingsAssisting with project start-ups and plant shut-downsAssist crews in observing, communicating, and growing the Interstates Safety CultureDevelop relationships with customers, safety managers, and other Interstates personnelOther duties may be assigned.Education and/or Experience:A Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Occupational Health or Construction SafetyOr 1-2 years of related experience and/or trainingOr equivalent combination of both education and experiencePreferred Skills:Excellent verbal and written communicationAble to track information and conduct auditsAbility to write reports and procedure manualsCan effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of manager, clients, customers, and the general publicAbility to work well with others and achieve results through others, without having a direct line of authority over themMust possess sound judgement skills, and the ability to prioritize work and deal with stressTravel: This position will involve spending 80-90% of the time on construction sites; travel will be required according to job site needs within the United States.Interstates is an Equal Opportunity/AA Employer and provides a drug free work environment.Interstates is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and provides a drug free work environment.
