Pella Regional Health Center Registered Nurse: Specialty In Training in Pella, Iowa

RN Specialty in Training is a unique employment opportunity for RN's who are looking to train in several specialty nursing positions within PRHC. He/she will have the opportunity to orient to our Medical Surgical Unit, Post-Partum and Outpatient Surgery. The Emergency Department, Hospice and Skilled Care will also be potential opportunities as time permits. The shifts will be balanced between night and day shifts and last for about 6 months. As new graduates, candidates will participate in our Nurse Residency program.

After the six month time frame, the candidate may choose to apply for an open position in a specialty area such as Labor and Delivery, Med Surg/ ICU or the Operating room. The candidate may also continue to float to areas as needed to fill in with current staffing vacancies or leave of absences in the areas where he/she has been trained. Specialty training can continue throughout the first year, i.e. if the employee is interested in ICU, Labor & Delivery & Perioperative nursing with the understanding that a commitment to those departments for a minimum of a year after completion of the specialty course work is desired.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:

v Graduate of an accredited RN program; BSN preferred.

v Current Registration and Licensure in the State of Iowa as an RN. Must be in good standing with the Board of Nursing.

v Continuing education as required to maintain licensure.

v Completion of Basic Life Support and Dependent Adult & Child Abuse.

v Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.

v High degree of empathetic listening skills, tact and kindness toward others.

v Ability to communicate well verbally. Must work effectively as a member of a team.

v Basic computer knowledge

v Technical and critical thinking skills in relation to sound nursing judgment.

v Knowledge of nursing practices as they relate to acute care.
