Pella Regional Health Center Patient Advocate in Pella, Iowa
This position serves as the patient advocate, providing a message of compassion and fulfilling the mission of Pella Regional Health Center; communicating, educating and defining the cost and payment process to benefit those who depend on us now and in the future. He/She assists the Finance department in reviewing insurance reports, after services have been charged, to insure maximum reimbursement.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
v Critical thinking skills required to effectively perform the duties as outlined in the full job description.
v Minimum of 2 year degree in healthcare related field or accounting preferred with experience in healthcare and/or insurance substituted for a degree
v Experience in a health care setting and in an insurance/billing/collections/coding role
v Knowledge of insurance benefits
v Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 codes
v Knowledge of billing processes for clinic and hospital settings
v Ability to articulate clearly and to communicate in an understandable manner
v Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
v Basic mathematical skills
v Strong computer skills with ability to learn specific computer systems
v Positive, appropriate customer service skills
v Able to work effectively as a leader and member of a team.
