Pella Regional Health Center Ostomy Care Nurse in Pella, Iowa
Under the direction of the Emergency Department Director, the Ostomy Registered Nurse (RN) has the responsibility and accountability for utilizing the nursing process in the management of patients with fecal and/or urinary ostomies throughout the organization. The RN functions primarily as a consultant providing direct patient care and education to selected patients and provides for ongoing staff development in ostomy care.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Current RN license in the state of practice – to be maintained throughout the duration of employment in the position.
Ostomy Certification required or must be able to obtain certification within one year of employment from an accredited WOC nursing education program.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required. New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date.
Demonstrated organization, prioritization and time-management skills
Basic knowledge of regulatory/accrediting requirements for healthcare organizations.
Strong interpersonal, listening, as well as oral and written communication skills, to include presentation skills and ability to translate complex technical terms in laymen’s terms
Customer service skills and follow-up skills
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to work on multiple tasks at the same time
Ability to work with others and in a team environment
Ability to stay calm in all situations
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Working knowledge of computerized nursing systems
