Scope of Position:
The Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for assisting in regulatory compliance to safety and environmental requirements at 7 manufacturing locations and 2 distribution centers to include: permitting, program review, training, inspections, incident management and follow up, workers’ compensation oversight, recordkeeping, and documentation control. In addition, the position has responsibility for assisting in the development of annual site safety plans, environmental plans, KPI’s and development of the Business Unit safety culture.
Responsibilities:
Assist local leadership teams to ensure compliance to safety and environmental regulatory requirements as they relate to: permitting, program review, training, inspections, incident management and follow up, workers’ compensation oversight, recordkeeping and documentation control
Act as the technical expert for safety, environmental, training, health and ergonomics issues
Assist in completion and evaluation of plant safety audits and inspections of personnel to assure compliance with program requirements
Work with local leadership in staff development as it relates to safety and environmental program requirements
Facilitate functional group meetings and other specialized meetings as need dictates
Provide assistance in incident management including patient care and follow-up actions, investigation, tracking and trending details for EHS events
Assist in the development of annual and long-term capital plans
Work with functional engineering leads and site leadership to assure MOC process is utilized for all capital requests and other changes to assure safety and environmental concerns are addressed
Provide in-field EHS support for employees and provide hazard awareness directly to site employees when necessary
Work closely with utilities group to ensure compliance with OSHA process safety management (PSM) regulations as well as EPA risk management program (RMP) regulation (where applicable)
Participate in follow up for all government inspections dealing with Safety or Environmental agencies
Work with consultants to assure compliance with regulatory requirements and follow up
Assist in annual review and update of standardized programs and policies to include: LOTO, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Work at Heights, Emergency Evacuation
Assist in development of robust PSM program
Onboard new EHS Managers and support staff

Skills and Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum 5 years’ safety experience, preferably within food processing industry
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Engineering, Business Administration or Physical Sciences; or an equivalent combination of related experience and education
CPR/First Aid Training
National Safety Council training
Confined Space Training
OSHA Training Courses
Program, planning and evaluation techniques
Statistical analysis skills
Strong written, verbal and computer skills are essential
Outstanding communication skills in order to lead and engage employees
A thorough understanding of lean manufacturing principles and leadership applications
Work Environment:
