Description:

The Sonographer performs all general, abdominal, pelvic, OB and small parts Ultrasound examinations-Vascular if trained. These procedures will be performed on various ages of patients in accordance with the age-specific delivery of care policy. This person will be able to operate all Ultrasound, and process images as needed. The technologist may be required to be available for emergency call and will also perform clerical and transporting duties as assigned by the department manager.

OVERVIEW:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of all clerical duties in the front office.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of image maintenance and filing system.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of use of equipment in office, such as computer, fax/copier.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the transportation of patients and patient care.

  • Assists in coverage of department and telephone communications.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of scheduling outpatients and inpatients, with the proper preparations.

  • Demonstrates competence in being able to work independently performing all General/OB Ultrasound examinations. Is competent in troubleshooting Ultrasound machine problems, doing quality assurance on Ultrasound machine and training other personnel when needed.

  • Identifies Age Specific needs of patient and complies with the same.

  • Performs all duties as a Sonographer along with being able to take emergency call with a response time of 1 hour.

  • Demonstrates ability to operate all ultrasound equipment along with performing routine equipment maintenance when necessary.

  • Assists department director in the purchase of new ultrasound equipment.

  • Demonstrates eagerness to teach Ultrasound Technology students.

  • Demonstrates ability to use PACS and VRAD telerad computers
