Alexion Pharmaceuticals Case Manager Field -Central in New Orleans, Louisiana

Position Summary

RN Case Managers provide education, treatment support, and access for patients with ultra-rare diseases. Case Managers ensure patient treatment compliance, communication with both internal and external customers: provide resolutions regarding any interruptions or barriers to care, and aid in the overall coordination in the quest for best in class care. Field Focused Case Manager will provide on-site assistance with payer requirements for patient specific funding access to Alexion approved therapies.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build/maintain patient relationship in order to educate, provide ongoing treatment support and assist with gaining access to therapy.

  • Facilitate the coordination of health care provider and payer resources to ensure access to Alexion therapies for FDA approved indications

  • Obtain patient consent and comply with privacy rules

  • Develop and implement plans of action to overcome barriers to disease knowledge or access for patient’s choice of Alexion FDA approved therapies.

  • Anticipate and prevent or identify and resolve (through coordination of efforts and resources) interruptions or barriers to care

  • Travel to HCP and infusion sites to provide education and support of staff in offices or infusion sites that administer Alexion FDA approved therapies

  • Maintain records, complete reports and communicate case status and direction as per OneSource CM Program design and in compliance with company policies

  • Organize resources for patient assistance

  • Attend patient meetings, conferences to educate patients, providers or payors regarding disease/product information and case management services

  • Maintain a current knowledge base regarding insurance options and requirements (state, federal and commercial payors)

  • Work in tandem with 3rd party vendors in compliance with company policy to support patient needs

  • Contribute to the development of departmental policies, procedures and special projects

  • Participate in and complete required pharmacovigilance training

  • Identify those areas of work and standard operating procedures related to pharmcoviligance

Essential Qualifications

  • 3-5 years’ recent Clinical Nursing experience, case management, or insurance experience with a strong, successful track record

  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment for continuation of care

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive issues with opposing opinions

  • Work independently and handle special projects

  • Ability to multi-task and use up to date technology

  • Travel requirements (up to 50%)

  • Current RN licensure required
