TheMount Pleasant Correctional FacilityinMount Pleasant Iowa is a minimum custody facility with a focus on preparing incarcerated individuals for re-entry into the community. Core programming includes Substance Abuse and Cognitive/Batters Education. Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility sits on 152 acres of grounds that is maintained by the minimum out incarcerated individuals. Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility houses approximately 1060 adult males. It provides education, treatment and apprenticeship programs designed to prepare incarcerated individuals for their return to the community.
Hours of work:This position will work primary NOC (nocturnal) shift 11:00 pm to 9:00am or can provide relief on PM shift 3:30 PM - 11:30 PM.
Weekends and holidays as assigned.
The registered nurse demonstrates high integrity, nursing values, ethical principles and moral practices. The registered nurse must practice professional nursing consistent and within scope of the Iowa Board of Nursing Practice Act. The registered nurse has a current nursing license in good standing from the Iowa Board of Nursing.
As the staff nurse, your organizational leadership and management of resources enables staff, patients, and the community to promote the Department's Mission to Create Opportunities for Safe Communities by: Managing client health care to ensure a safe and secure environment for both clients and staff while promoting positive change in client behavior. Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice.
The registered nurse must have
Knowledge of current medications, their actions and uses.
Knowledge of quality standards, procedures, and protocols.
Knowledge of specialized client care applicable to the work situation.
Ability to teach and oversee client care provided by assistive staff.
Ability to provide empathetic assistance to clients in meeting their needs and carrying out prescribed treatments.
Ability to collect data objectively and record information accurately.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator's Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
