About The Job

The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician is responsibility for the cleaning, sterilization, distribution, and recording of patient reusable supplies and equipment and the decontamination and assembly of instruments for the OR and throughout the hospital and Mercy Family clinics. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician is responsible for the OR case carts being properly setup and assures that all the instruments necessary to do the procedure are on the cart, ready for surgical use.

The Sterile Processing Instrument Tech is responsible under the direction of a specific OR clinical leader in a specific area for instrument inventory, ordering, vendor and repair of instruments.

What We Are Looking For

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required with an interest in continuing education.

Preferred CRCST (Certified Registered Central Supply Tech)

Certificate after the 2nd year of employment

Preferred CST (Certified Surgical Tech) Certificate will be accepted.

Special Skills, Competencies, and Aptitudes

An ability to work within a confined area and in close proximity to fellow employees on a daily basis.

Adaptability to learn new instruments and table setups as required by surgical procedure.

Detailed task orientated individual regarding work.

Ability to meet the department “on call” demands.
