Perioperative RN: Pre-Op/Post-op/PACU
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Preparation of patients for the operating room for day surgery and endoscopy procedures, including obtaining signatures and explanation of surgical consents, gathering and documenting baseline vital signs, basic nursing functions, such as, starting IV’s, administering pre-op medications, and educating patients on discharge instructions. Recovery of patients whom have been placed under anesthesia include gathering and documenting of vital signs, assessing for signs of post-surgical distress, administering medications, and keeping surgical team abreast of significant information for the successful recovery of the patient.
Cross training to the operating room to assist in patient care as needed.
This position has a 30 minute response time for call coverage.
Scheduled 36 hours per week: This position is scheduled nine (9) days per two (2) week pay period, from 0900-1730. Call is assigned to this role one (1) evening/night per week and every fifth weekend.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in state of Iowa
Two (2) or more years of experience in surgical and/or intensive care nursing preferred
ACLS certification required
PACU nurses will be certified in pediatric advanced life support (PALS)
Child and Dependent Adult Mandatory Reporter Training required
