Regional Medical Center Public Health Supervisor in Manchester, Iowa


This position participates as a member of the Leadership Team in planning, policy formulation, and administrative decision making to assure quality services. The Public Health Supervisor assumes administrative and clinical responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Public Health Department, and recommends and implements changes that would improve delivery of services.


  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree preferred, or

  • Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Iowa and who has a recommended minimum of two years of related public health experience

  • BLS certification

  • Child and Dependent Adult Mandatory Reporter Training required


Reports to Chief Operating Officer


Administrative Assistant, Public Health Nurse


Immunization Program

  • Staff immunization clinics, providing direct care

  • Manages Vaccine for Children Program

  • Supervises recall/reminder of immunization caseload

  • Develops immunization programs for general public

  • Manages vaccine inventory

  • Attends immunization education updates, as needed

  • Educational resource

  • Prepares 1-4 immunization grant

Communicable Disease

  • Provides investigation, treatment, and follow-up of reportable diseases and outbreaks.

  • Provides on-call availability, as needed

  • Educational resource

Community Health Assessment

  • Conducts school and daycare immunization audits

  • Provides follow up on complaints from the public that fall under the jurisdiction of Board of Health

  • Participates in Community/Health Needs Assessment and Health Improvement Plan (CHNA-HIP) Process

  • Conducts blood pressure/education clinics as needed

Public Health Emergency Preparedness

  • Facilitates Delaware Pandemic Influenza Committee

  • Facilitate Public Health Emergency Planning

  • Community Presentations

  • As a Health Alert Network (HAN) subscriber, evaluates HAN communication and follows up appropriately

  • Participates in local exercises and after action reports

  • Prepare Public Health emergency preparedness grant

  • Participate in Delaware County Disaster Recovery Committee

Community Partnerships

  • Participates in formal and informal coalitions, (Delaware County Tobacco Free Partnership, BDF Empowerment, DDAC, etc.)

  • Promotes family well being

  • Participates in interdisciplinary team functions

  • Communicates needs for in-service education


  • Prepare LPHS grant/project director

  • Manage PAT and PPC programs

  • Provide educational information to community through press releases, news articles and guest of the day
