Mt. Ascutney Hospital Clinic Nurse (Regional Family Health- Behavioral Services/Psychiatric) in Manchester, Iowa

Regional Family Health, a service of Regional Medical Center of Manchester Iowa, is seeking a Psychiatric Clinic Nurse. This is a primary nursing position working with a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner within the Behavioral Services clinic of Regional Family Health.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with current license to practice in the state of Iowa

  • CPR certification required

  • Experience with electronic health record and skilled in computer use

  • Previous experience in psychiatric nursing/clinic preferred

  • Detailed, efficient, and able to multi-task

  • Experience working with individuals of all ages

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applies effective communication skills

  • Prepares patient for examination by updating medication list and evaluating social and family histories

  • Assesses patient’s vital signs, including height and weight

  • Assists Providers in performing patient examinations and procedures: pap and pelvic exams, minor surgery, incision and drainage, aspiration, orthopedic cast removal

  • Gives medications and injections under provider supervision

  • Explains nature of examination, diagnostic tests, and/or treatment to patients at the Provider request

  • Instructs patients regarding proper preparation for tests

  • Prepares and replenishes supplies

  • Cleans instruments and assures maintenance of diagnostic equipment

  • Receives and organize medication samples

  • Assists with ordering medical supplies and maintaining inventory

  • Performs lab tests as ordered by Providers

  • Contacts patients with information regarding laboratory results, diagnostic results, changes in medication, scheduling of laboratory tests or procedures and referrals to specialists

  • Advises patients on health concerns and distributes patient education

  • Performs other specific duties as agreed upon between Provider and Supervisor to facilitate a smooth and effective operation

  • Assists in ordering professional supplies

  • Maintains HIPAA compliance
