Corteva Agriscience Senior Research Associate in Johnston, Iowa
Corteva Agriscience Input Trait Discovery Group, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Associate with experience in Biochemistry and Enzymology to join our Input Traits Discovery Team located in Johnston, IA.
The primary responsibilities will be to carry out biochemical assays to support discovery of herbicide tolerant traits. Biochemical assays will be performed in a variety of formats to characterize proteins and herbicide mechanisms of action. You will be responsible for performing technical, scientific and information assignments in the areas of protein biochemistry as it relates to herbicide discovery. Providing input to project teams and participating in routine assay workflows will be part of the daily work. The ideal candidate will be able to carry out biochemical assays independently or with minimal supervision. The position also provides a great opportunity to learn many facets of biochemistry and how it relates to the agriscience industry.

Work closely with scientists to design and conduct biochemical experiments using enzyme kinetics and/or biophysical methods to interrogate detailed molecular interactions
Analyze results, troubleshoot technical difficulties, and implement solutions
Keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results
Present results regularly at team meetings
Follow laboratory safety guidelines and practices
Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
BS/BA degree with 4-10 years of research experience, or
MS degree with 2-4 years of relevant thesis research experience
Experience in running and troubleshooting biochemical assays including HTRF, luminescent, colorimetric and enzyme coupled assays. Ability to operate SpectraMax Multi-Mode plate reader for data acquisition and data reduction with SoftMax Pro
Experience in biochemical assay development and mechanistic enzymology with the ability to characterize mechanism of enzyme modulators would be preferred
Experience with recombinant protein expression and purification (e.g. His tagged, MBP and GST fusion proteins) would be preferred
Experience with data analysis, including data fitting with GraphPad Prizm software
Excellent written and oral communication skills
