We are seeking a biologist with experience in protein structure determination to join our trait discovery group. As a biologist at Corteva, you will have access to state-of-the-art protein production facilities, crystallization robotics, utilize local and regional resources for data collection, and provide structural information to answer critical questions facing modern agriscience. The successful candidate will be involved in projects to determine the 3-dimensional structure of one or more proteins relevant to the agricultural business.

Responsibilities

  • Protein purification and characterization for structural biology studies

  • Protein production construct optimization for structural studies

  • Protein engineering as it relates to the production of soluble proteins for structural studies

  • High-throughput crystallization screening using commercial and proprietary screens

  • Crystal growth optimization, ligand soaks, crystal harvesting, cryo-mounting and puck loading

  • Collect and process X-ray diffraction data using CCP4

  • Design protein engineering experiments to enhance biological activity of agriscience relevant proteins

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant industry experience, or Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant industry experience

  • Extensive experience in protein expression and purification for structural studies

  • Strong molecular biology skills

  • Experience in structure determination of biological macromolecules

  • Knowledge of insecticidal toxin is desired
