Kelly Scientific Resources is looking for a solid plant biologist to go to work near Johnston, IA

Research and Development Technician

Qualifications:

  • conduct routine research laboratory activities, information/data management activities or operate small scale production equipment in support of research and development.

  • Identify and suggest improvements in methods, plans projects of limited duration and scope,

  • troubleshoot when erroneous or unexpected results occur.

  • Responsible for producing research experimental results, or information/data management results, or assembling and configuring of small scale production equipment and control systems in a timely fashion utilizing a variety of techniques, effectively documenting findings and communicating results.

Duties:

  • Provide molecular support for the Regulatory Science Group

  • Assist with planning and designing study protocols and/or experiments in consultation with Research Manager.

  • Manage multiple tasks, generate, document, analyze and summarize experimental results in a timely manner for Supervisor/Manager.

  • Manage supply needs to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the laboratory.

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.

  • Responsible for implementation of GLP Standards and GLP compliance within the Regulatory Science Molecular Characterization Lab

  • Assist with developing and revising SOPs for procedures and equipment.

  • Responsible for record keeping in equipment logs (inspections, routine and non-routine maintenance) for the lab.

  • Keep Research Manager informed of GLP compliance issues.

  • Work with Quality Assurance personnel to assure GLP compliance and to resolve compliance problems.

  • Comply with DuPont Pioneer safety policy.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology. Minimum three years of relevant experience in Ag-biotech, molecular biology, genetics, plant biology, and plant breeding.

Competencies

  • Experience in molecular biology and assay development.

  • Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices is essential.

  • Good technical writing and records management skills.

  • Good organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
