Lab Research Intern - Trait Discovery (Job Number: 198786W-01)


Corteva Agriscience is seeking a Lab Research Intern to participate in a 3/6-month internship designed to give broad based exposure on the day-to-day activities of a trait discovery program. The intern will be hosted by the disease resistance laboratory on Corteva’s main campus in Johnston, IA. Interns in the program will be expected to participate in all aspects of the lab’s activities. This includes bench work, as well as occasional greenhouse and field work. It is desirable that students have past practical experience in a laboratory research environment, as well as relevant computer skills.

The primary responsibility of the intern will be to assist with the molecular cloning and characterization of genes of interest. The intern will thus be exposed to a variety of techniques, including cloning, PCR, DNA/RNA isolation, etc. As part of this work, the intern will be expected to conduct a small research project that he/she will present at the end of the internship. Position duration is May to August/December 2019.


Job Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.

  • Education focus in Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, Microbiology, Genetics, Molecular Biology or a related field. Agricultural background beneficial but not required.

  • Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0
