Corteva Agriscience Genomics Technologies Intern - 3 Month (Johnston, IA) in Johnston, Iowa

Description

Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a 3-month Internship located in the greater Des Moines, IA area. This position in the field of Plant Genomics will be open from May to August 2021. This new opportunity is in our Genomics Technologies department where you will learn to implement cutting-edge techniques to interrogate genomics functions related to the regulation of gene transcription in specific maize lines and tissue. You will work closely with laboratory leaders and computing experts to assess newly established protocols and assist in the analysis of new sequencing data in relation to existing maize genomics, epigenomics and transcriptomics information.

Responsibilities - What You'll Do:

  • You will contribute to the testing and improvement of published methods in specific maize line and tissue, including but not limited to 1) Chromatin Immuno-Precipitation sequencing (“ChIP-Seq”) and 2) an in vitro DNA binding assay known as DNA Affinity Purification sequencing (“DAP-Seq”).

  • You will be exposed to a wide-range of cutting-edge DNA sequencing platforms and technologies in a world-renowned laboratory environment.

  • You will work closely with computer scientists and lab personnel to analyze and assess the sequencing data that your work will have produced

Qualifications

Qualifications - What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum 2 years of college education in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, bioinformatics, plant cell biology or related field.

  • Current cumulative GPA of 3.5.

  • Highly motivated, strong organizational communication and presentation skills, strong organizational skills, ability to work both individually and in a team environment.

  • Basic computer competency is required.

  • A Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related biology disciplines.
