SLEEP SPECIALISTRequisition # 72113Position BasicsType of PositionOTHERAdvertising Ends on:Extended Until Position is FilledAdvertising Started on:Thursday, December 21st, 2017College:Carver College of MedicineDepartment:NeurologySalarySalary:CommensuratePosition DetailsFull/Part Time Status:Full TimePosition Description:The University of Iowa Department of Neurology, Division of Sleep Medicine is seeking Faculty Physicians and Physician Scientists to participate in clinical, research, and teaching activities of a multi-departmental program. Successful candidates will also be in involved in a full range of educational and mentoring activities for students, residents, and fellows through educational programs of the division. A leadership position exists for a qualified individual as Director of the Outpatient Programs, Sleep Medicine.Clinical activities will include service on a busy sleep medicine outpatient clinic, interpretation of polysomnograms and ambulatory sleep testing in the state of the art AASM accredited UIHC Sleep Disorders Center and the Iowa City VA Hospital, out of center sleep testing, and training of fellows in the UIHC, ACGME accredited Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program. Candidates may also participate in neurology inpatient and consult services, and those that are BC/BE in clinical neurophysiology, neuromuscular medicine, or epilepsy may also participate in the review of EMG/NCV, EEG, and intraoperative neurophysiological studies.The UIHC Sleep Disorder Center, a component of a multi-departmental program, includes an active outpatient clinic, an eight bed outpatient sleep laboratory, portable sleep monitoring system (for inpatient and research studies), and ACGME accredited fellowship programs in Sleep Medicine and Clinical Neurophysiology. The Iowa City VA Hospital is across the street from the UIHC Sleep Lab and has a fully equipped multi-bed sleep lab and sleep disorders clinic. A joint appointment with the VAMC is available, which would offer eligibility for VA grants.
