The Department's research laboratories include the Orthopaedic Biomechanics Laboratory, the Ignacio V. Ponseti Biochemistry and Cell Biology Laboratory, the Bone Healing Research Laboratory, and the Iowa Spine Research Laboratory. These laboratories collaborate closely alongside and with the clinical department on translational research projects and grants.less than/p>less thanbr>less thanp>This opportunity is particularly well suited for scientists with interest in the biology of bone and other musculoskeletal tissues that can supplement our existing cartilage-centric projects. The department maintains an advanced facility for large animal surgery that will allow a scientist an exceptional opportunity for their research program. More recently, investments in onsite histology capabilities, alongside a suite of well characterized animal models, provides state-of-the-art in-house translational capabilities. Translational research and close interaction with research oriented clinicians are important central features of our research program.less than/p>less thanbr>less thanbr>less thanstrong>Education Requirement:less than/strong>less thanp>The individual must hold a PhD, MD, DVD or a combination and have expertise in any of the following fields: bioengineering, mechanobiology, cellular and/or molecular physiology, research in Veterinary Medicine or a closely related area.less than/p>less thanbr>less thanbr>less thanstrong>Required Qualifications:less than/strong>less thanp>Applicants must have a record of achievement in one or several areas of musculoskeletal tissue research (muscle, bone, and ligament/tendon) as well as interest in orthopedic therapies and research extending to a cellular level. A demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse academic environment is required.
