NIH funded research in this laboratory is focused on the central inflammatory mechanisms driving sympathetic excitation in cardiovascular diseases. Using a multifaceted approach involving electrophysiology, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, pharmacology and biochemistry, the ongoing project is studying the brain mechanisms underlying autonomic regulation, neuronal activation and intracellular signaling pathways activated by pro-inflammatory cytokines in heart failure and hypertension. The laboratory will also focus on the translational studies to determine whether central interventions with anti-inflammatory agents improve the neurohumoral activation and peripheral manifestations in heart failure.less than/p>less thanbr>less thanp>The successful candidate will be expected to work independently under the supervision of the principal investigator, and be able to cooperate with other members in the laboratory.
