POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLARRequisition # 3063Position BasicsAdvertising Ends on:Extended Until Position is FilledAdvertising Started on:Tuesday, November 13th, 2018College:Carver College of MedicineDepartment:Internal MedicineSalarySalary:$48,432.00 to CommensuratePosition DetailsFull/Part Time Status:Full TimePercent Time:100%Position Description:A postdoctoral research scholar position is available immediately for a highly motivated individual in a neurophysiology laboratory in the Department of Internal Medicine and Abboud Cardiovascular Research Center. NIH funded research in this laboratory is focused on the central inflammatory mechanisms driving sympathetic excitation in cardiovascular diseases. Using a multifaceted approach involving electrophysiology, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, pharmacology and biochemistry, the ongoing project is studying the brain mechanisms underlying autonomic regulation, neuronal activation and intracellular signaling pathways activated by pro-inflammatory cytokines in heart failure and hypertension. The laboratory will also focus on the translational studies to determine whether central interventions with anti-inflammatory agents improve the neurohumoral activation and peripheral manifestations in heart failure.The successful candidate will be expected to work independently under the supervision of the principal investigator, and be able to cooperate with other members in the laboratory. He/she will be responsible for the experimental design, data aquisition and analysis, preparation of abstracts and manuscripts for scientific meetings or publication.
