-----RECRUITMENT OR RELOCATION INCENTIVES MAY APPLY FOR HIGHLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATE----- The Iowa City VA is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible physician to serve as its Care in the Community (CITC) Associate Chief of Staff. This Physician reports directly to the Chief of Staff and will assume the leadership of the CITC team in collaboration with the CITC Nursing Administrator as well as providing oversight for subordinate RN's and MSA's/PSA's.

Responsibilities

Common duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following: Candidate demonstrates leadership in delivering quality, cost-effective care through partnerships with VHA and Community Care providers. Incumbent directs and manages all administrative activities within the service line, successful performance of his/her assigned area, including customer satisfaction and the efficient delivery of services to our Veterans within the community. Responsible for monitoring and advancing patient safety quality standards and utilization management for the CITC Department. Ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who is proficient in VHA databases, fully understands performance metrics and is able to monitor trends, etc. Incumbent will proactively partner with all staff in developing organizational systems for CITC using lean management principles to measure quality initiatives for facility performance effectiveness. Review cases in the community that need additional guidance and conduct needs-based reviews and modifications for patient care coordination. Candidate will also serve as a member of multiple facility committees and working groups. Attend leadership sessions or conference meetings as required. May be involved in other clinical duties as outlined by the Chief of Staff. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am -4:30 pm

Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical requirements outlined below. Preferred Experience: Proficient in VA's computerized patient record system (CPRS) electronic medical record. Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.
