Persons appointed to this position will receive the privileges and benefits associated with regular employment status.Duties:This position is for a PA/ARNP Hospitalist in the Department of Neurology as part of Interventional Neuro-Radiology (INR). Majority of the duties will be inpatient. Focus is on the care of hospitalized and ambulatory patients, managing length of stay, improving resource utilization, and decreasing costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care of INR patients within the Department of Neurology. Will perform overall medical care and medical management exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services under a collaborative practice agreement. Will collaborate and consult in the optimization of care delivery through coordination and transitions as a part of a team. Will excerise judgment to provide continuity of care incorporating best practices. This position may require weekend, holiday and night coverage responsibilities as clinically indicated.Education Required:PA Hospitalist: Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA.ARNP Hospitalist: A Master's degree is required. A Master's degree in Nursing is preferred. If Master's degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required. Requires demonstrated experience in area of clinical practice.Experience Required:Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in the specialty area of neuroscience is required.Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment is required.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.Certifications:PA Hospitalist: Licensure by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA.ARNP Hospitalist: Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required. Current certification in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa is required.Desirable Qualifications:Considerable (3-5 years) experience in the specialty area of neuroscience, with 1-3 years of this experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.Experience with patient and staff education.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new programs.Experience with evidence based practice or research utilization.Participation in professional PA/ARNP organizations.Online Application OptionsApplication Type:This job requires basic applicant information, plus a resume.
