Persons appointed to this position will receive the privileges and benefits associated with regular employment status.Duties:The University of Iowa department of Facilities Management is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented candidate for the Director, Building & Landscape Services (BLS) position. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, this role serves as a key leader for the integrated Facilities Management (FM) organization, ensuring effective cross unit collaboration, success of FM's strategic plan, and achievement of annual performance goals. Leads the Building and Landscape Services (BLS) organization in developing and executing a vision of a highly reliable, customer-oriented and collaborative organization with a focus on effective and efficient operation, servicing and stewardship of campus buildings and grounds. BLS is a service organization providing services within over 12 million serviceable square feet of campus research, teaching, assembly, library and office space, and 860 acres of maintainable landscape zones across three campus areas, with 200 acres being intensely maintained urban campus. With a total campus area of roughly 16 million square feet, over 200 buildings and spanning 1900 acres, this position is a champion for staff who work behind the scenes, serving the University of Iowa as stewards of the Iowa City campus.Education Required:Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience Required:7-10 years' experience in facilities management with administrative responsibilityDemonstrated job-related experience within a higher education, a large corporate or military campus environment, or an applicable manufacturing environmentHighly effective interpersonal and collaboration skillsStrategic leadership experience, including demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, analyze, execute and document specific administrative and management functions with a sense of the long-term goals of the departmentExcellent oral and written communication skillsA strong customer service orientationAbility to work with a diverse group of staff at all levels of an organizationDesirable Qualifications:Master's degreeExperience with transformational changeExperience using Big Data analytic tools to optimize building or manufacturing systemsLicensing or certifications applicable to the facilities management professionOnline Application OptionsApplication Type:This job requires basic applicant information, plus a resume.
