The individual selected will join the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics to provide patient care, teaching, and consultative services. The Division is comprised of nine faculty, and is a national leader in research, with three successful NIH-funded investigators. The Division works closely with the University of Iowa Center for Disabilities and Development, which has been Iowa's University Center for Excellence on Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) since 1972. The Center for Disabilities and Development integrates a broad array of clinical services in one location, including developmental and behavioral pediatrics, psychology, speech-language pathology, occupational and physical therapy, social work, education, audiology, and nursing, and thus provides an ideal environment for exceptional patient care, education and research. The Center is also the home of Iowa's LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) program, and has provided outstanding interdisciplinary training in neurodevelopmental disabilities for over two decades.The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is one of the top biomedical research institutions in the nation and ranked 42nd overall and 20th among public medical schools for NIH funding in FY16. The U.S. News and World Report research ranking places the College 12th among public institutions for FY2016, and the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics ranked 21st overall and 11th in NIH funding among all public pediatric departments nationwide in FY16. The ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program at the Children's Hospital trains 47 pediatric residents.The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics comprises the medical and research staff of UI Stead Family Children's Hospital. University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital is one of the nation's top-ranked pediatric care and research institutions. It is the only university-affiliated hospital in Iowa devoted solely to the care of infants, children, adolescents and young adults, and is Iowa's only accredited Level 1 Regional Resource Pediatric Trauma Center. In 2016-17 University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital ranked in eight pediatric specialties in the Best Children's Hospitals U.S. News and World Report, including cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, neonatology, nephrology, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology, and is the only hospital in Iowa to be nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report for children's care.
