We are seeking a scholar with a strong record of research or clear evidence of the potential to develop a viable research program. Areas of interest may include, but are not limited to, speech motor control, vocal tract imaging, modelling, speech articulation, articulation/phonological development and disorders, speech acoustics/resonance, or fluency.The successful applicant will be expected to establish and maintain an active program of empirical research and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise. The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa is one of the top ranked programs in the nation. The Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Clinic serves both adult and pediatric clients. Several other exciting and innovative university programs offer opportunities for interaction and interdisciplinary scholarship. These include the Development and Learning from Theory to Application (DeLTA) Center, the Center for Disabilities and Development, and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (e.g., Imaging, Otolaryngology, Surgery). Collaboration with faculty from the College of Medicine, the College of Public Health and the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences is also possible.Education Requirement:Prospective candidates must have earned a PhD in communication sciences and disorders or a related field in hand by the start date.Required Qualifications:For Assistant Professor: 1) evidence of strong potential for developing an active and productive research program in the candidate's area of interest; 2) potential for obtaining external funding; 3) evidence that suggests the ability to teach effectively at the college level.For Associate Professor: 1) evidence of an active and productive research program in the candidate's area of interest; 2) established record of external funding; 3) record of effective teaching at the college level; 4) evidence of service at the university or professional level.Desirable Qualifications:1) certification in speech-language pathology; 2) demonstrated commitment to working across disciplinary boundaries; and 3) evidence of leadership in university or professional contexts commensurate with rank.Online Application Required DocumentsCurriculum VitaeLetter of InterestTeaching StatementResearch StatementNumber of References: 3Letters of Recommendation are required as part of the application process.
