Appropriate candidates are those with expertise in clinical teaching, routine diagnostic testing, hearing aid selection, fitting and follow up care, hearing loss prevention services, and auditory electrophysiology, as well as an interest in program development and a strong record of professional productivity. This individual will be expected to help expand the range of clinical services provided by the Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Clinic to include a full range of auditory evoked potential testing, as well as to work with professionals at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in coordination of these services at the local and state level. The successful candidate will bring experience in the use of auditory evoked potentials for hearing assessment in adults, infants, and young children.Responsibilities include: (1) provide clinical instruction to audiology graduate student clinicians in a clinical setting which provides routine diagnostic services, aural (re)habilitation including hearing aid selection, fitting and follow up care, and hearing loss prevention services; (2) work with graduate students and other faculty to develop and staff a training clinic that focuses on use of evoked potentials to help diagnose hearing loss in infants and young children at the Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Clinic; (3) provide direct patient care; (4) collaborate with other clinical faculty members to coordinate student learning, clinical care, and outreach programs; (5) participate in professional development and service activities; (7) facilitate sustainable partnerships with other service providers within the university, as well as with health care service providers and school based professionals in the university, community and state.Education Requirement:Prospective candidates must have a clinical doctorate in audiology (Au.D.) or a master's degree in audiology in hand by the start date.Required Qualifications:1) At least 3 years of experience in clinical audiology; 2) at least 1 year of experience recording, interpreting and/or integrating results of evoked potential testing into clinical decision making; 3) experience with diagnostic and hearing aid selection, fitting and follow up care; 4) experience with clinical teaching; 5) qualified to obtain an audiology license and hearing aid dispensing license in the state of Iowa; 6) hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, or qualified to obtain one; 7) demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse academic environment.Certifications:1) Audiology license and hearing aid dispensing license in the state of Iowa or qualified to obtain each, 2) Hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, or qualified to obtain oneDesirable Qualifications:1) at least 1 year of experience with auditory evoked potential testing in a clinical setting; 2) evidence of leadership in and/or service to the profession; 3) evidence of involvement in research and/or program development; and 4) familiarity with CMS regulations and guidelinesOnline Application Required DocumentsCurriculum VitaeLetter of InterestTeaching StatementNumber of References: 3Letters of Recommendation are required as part of the application process.
