Conduct highly technical and specialized scientific research in studying genes influencing cardiovascular disease by independently securing funding; performing research experiments, simulations and theoretical investigations; analyzing data; and disseminating research findings. Key areas of responsibility include experiments, simulations, modeling or theoretical investigations; data/research analysis and evaluation; dissemination of research results; research proposals/grants; service; and human resources/supervision. Duties will include design and execution of experiments, performing mouse surgeries for generating cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure models, intravenous injections, molecular and biochemical analyses of gene/protein expression, assessment of tissue pathology, data analyses and presentation, preparation of manuscripts and grant applications.
