Physical Therapy Tech:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Demonstrates professional, appropriate, effective and tactful written, verbal, and nonverbal communication with patient, families, medical staff, colleagues, vendors, and other departments throughout the continuum of care to promote continuity of care and services and enhance clinic image.

Demonstrates positive professional customer service in all patient, staff, and visitor contacts

Utilizes interpersonal skills to establish and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships with healthcare members, patients, and families.

Acknowledges patient's rights on confidentiality issues, maintains patient confidentiality at all times, and follows HIPAA guidelines and regulations.

Participates in staff development activities and orientation as requested.

Proactively acts as patient advocate, responding to and working to resolve patient concerns.

Responsible for following equipment maintenance protocol, identifying problems, and coordinating appropriate repairs.

Operation of various office machines (i.e. fax, copier, phone, and computer).

Participates effectively as a team member in the clinic.

Physical Therapy Technician:

Under supervision and guidance of licensed physical therapy staff: assists with patient treatments; carries out, monitors and/or adjusts treatment utilizing therapy techniques modalities, and equipment for which competency has been demonstrated; assumes responsibility for patient's care, safety and environment throughout treatment; observes, reports and records all pertinent patient information according to department policy.

Demonstrates appropriate and effective written, verbal and non-verbal communication with patients and their families, colleagues, medical staff, and the public; participates in staff meetings and

in-service education; protects patient confidentiality in regard to medical, emotional and social status.

Retrieves relevant information from medical records, maintains accurate scheduling and assist in

general maintenance of work environment and equipment.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

Work includes cross coverage in other clinic areas as team needs.

Maintains supply inventory and stocks supplies in various work areas.

Participates in Performance Improvement activities as appropriate.

Maintains orderly, neat appearance of work area.

Responsible for instrument maintenance, identifying problems and coordinating appropriate repairs.

Miscellaneous office duties, i.e. scheduling, filing, and/or retrieving medical records.

Scheduling of patients for physical therapy visits.

Operation of various office machines (i.e. copy machine, fax machine).

Community public relations and marketing.

Verifies insurance coverage with companies and obtaining referrals, when appropriate.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

High school diploma or GED

Medical experience preferred.

Obtain CPR certification within three (6) months of hire date
