Scientist II Field Innovation


The primary responsibilities of this role, Scientist II Field Innovation, are to:

  • Innovate, develop and implement advanced research workflow,imagery and equipment concepts to help drive efficiency andeffectiveness in field testing and other areas within the company where applicable;

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams focused on translatinginnovative ideas related to improving plant reproductivity intoconceptual designs, prototypes, proposals and help implement projects at our breeding locations;

  • Partner with Legal and Intellectual Property (IP) teams to ensure that all related efforts are following FTO and IP valuation processes;

  • Provide regular and timely updates on project status, keymilestones, challenges and next steps to key stakeholders andleadership;

  • Drive new technology development relative to precision breeding,product placement and other strategies that accelerate genetic gain in Breeding and can be implemented at the field level;

  • Build relationships with external partners to identify innovationopportunities and help build out for implementation and utilizationwithin Breeding;

  • Comply with all regulatory compliance guidelines forConfined Release and Stewarded Trial material;

  • Manage budgets and resources needed for project development and team support.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Agriculture or related discipline with at least seven years of experience In Agronomy, Sales, Field Development or R&D relatedroles OR M.S. with at least five year of relevant experience in agriculture or related discipline OR Ph.D. with at least three years of experience in agriculture or related discipline;

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with full-time and/or part-timeemployees or successfully managing projects through influence;

  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functionaland cross-cultural teams to achieve common goals;

  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing activities ofcross functional teams without direct reporting relationships;

  • Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challengesand opportunities;

  • Facilitates solutions;

  • Results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multipleprojects/priorities simultaneously;

  • Strong communication, decision-making, prioritization andproblem-solving skills;

  • Strong domain knowledge and understanding of crop production andfield research practices;

  • Demonstrates flexibility in an agile work environment;

  • Strong computer skills related to data acquisition, organization,and analysis;

  • Strong working knowledge of research operations and ability tointerpret / interact with large data sets;

  • Proven ability to help multiple stakeholders understand andimplement modern agricultural research concepts;

  • Ability to delegate and trust decision making process deeper in theorganization;

  • Travel (25%) to evaluate innovation science projects, meet withdirect reports or other conduct other critical business activities;

  • Valid driver's license with ability to obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) as needed.
