Under functional supervision of RN, performs technical nursing procedures within scope of practice, assures medical and nursing orders are carried out, treatments performed, necessary ills are seen by a physician, and all federal, state, local and patient care standards are met. Responds to emergency situations. Documents all assessments, observations, and care and treatment provided. Reports/communicates information to RN and physician, as well as other IDT members as appropriate.
Provides functional supervision of care provided by unlicensed nursing personnel (i.e., certified medication aides, direct support staff, etc.) in order to assure supports for health care and safety are implemented. Actively engages in performance improvement activities at facility, department and unit levels, collects and reports data, and implements performance improvement measures. Participates in nursing peer review process. Participates in interdisciplinary treatment teams, work groups, nursing service teams and committees as assigned.
Attends seminars, conferences, and other training events to stay current in nursing practice standards and evidence based nursing care. Maintains current LPN license, basic life support certification, and other mandatory continuing education activities. Completes Mandatory Reporter for Dependent Adult and Child Abuse training as required by Iowa Code
Schedule: 8 hour shifts with some variation and weekend rotation
Need an LPN license for Iowa and a valid Driver's License
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator's Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
