Engineers/HSE Professionals at Elanco Manufacturing are responsible for:
Improving our operations and activities to enhance the protection of human health, the environment and quality of life
Ensuring reliability of our manufacturing and utility systems
Searching for and implementing continuous improvements
Maintaining our facilities and processes in a state of compliance with US and global regulations
Managing capital projects
Designing and developing waste reduction and energy minimization processes
The positions are temporary summer internship positions that last for 12 CONTINUOUS weeks beginning in May or June 2018. Each engineering intern will be assigned a project affording the opportunity to actively contribute to the manufacturing organization, build a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, and the role Engineers/HSE Professionals play at creating solutions for Elanco.
Interns will interact with other engineering, manufacturing, and science professionals, including Elanco senior management. Professional development and social events will be held throughout the summer. At the conclusion of the work period, each intern will present his/her project highlights, findings and general internship accomplishments to science and manufacturing professionals.
Provide a practical real-life solution to a manufacturing business technical project
Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of Safety and Health related programs
Assists supervision in educating employees on practices, precautions, and procedures established. Coordinates safety training for OSHA related programs
Performs safety inspections and audits, and provides advice to departments on opportunities to improve safety performance. Assists employees/management with issues and concerns
Assists with accident/incident investigation program, following up on incidents and corrective action plans
To determine and achieve project goals driving process productivity through the implementation and execution of the project
Document and present project accomplishments and progress
Currently attending school and have completed sophomore or junior year in BS/MS Engineering program in at least one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Science.
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States via a J-1 visa. Elanco does not anticipate providing sponsorship for full-time employment visa status (e.g., H-1B status) beyond this employment position
Analysis/problem assessment skills, communication (oral and written) skills, information monitoring skills, quality orientation, and teamwork/interpersonal skills
Previous internship experience within the pharmaceutical industry
All interns will be considered for full-time positions based on their performance over the course of their summer internship.
