The new starting wage is $19.23 per hour or $39,998.40 annually. In addition, there is shift differential at $.60/ hour with overtime available.
The State Training School (STS) at Eldora offers a holistic social, behavioral, psychiatric, academic and vocational program that utilizes supportive counseling, behavioral health treatment, and consequences paired with praise and opportunity to males, ages 12 to 18 years old who have been adjudicated delinquent. Services and programs provide individualized treatment and offer comprehensive education, with a goal of transitioning the young man back to his community. The facility is operated by the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS).
The program available for residents includes:
General education studies
Special education programs
High School Equivalency Diploma (formerly GED)
Competency-based vocational programs
The Youth Services Workers at the STS are integral to the successful outcome of young men at the facility. BSTS is located in Eldora, Iowa, a city of approximately 2,800, located in North Central Iowa. Eldora is the home of the Pine Lake State Park which offers an array of indoor/outdoor recreational activities. Eldora is an Iowa River Greenbelt Community and the Iowa River Greenbelt Scenic Drive winds through a picturesque landscape of valleys, woods, and streams.
Eldora is 45 minutes from Ames and Cedar Falls, 30 minutes from Marshalltown, and only 20 minutes from Iowa Falls. Sportsmen enjoy the great hunting and fishing, and there are many educational opportunities, cultural activities, and entertainment events nearby.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from high school or G.E.D.;
experience equal to two years of full-time work in a youth service program working directly in the treatment of adjudicated, at risk, or other youths needing service or assistance.
