UnityPoint Health Patient Care-Telemetry Technician-ICU in Dubuque, Iowa
You will work Friday/Saturday/Sunday from 7:00 pm - 7:00 am, for 72 hours per pay period, and as needed. You will work 4 consecutive weekends in a row with every 5th weekend off.
Under the supervision of an RN, the Patient Care-Telemetry Technician (PCT) provides direct patient care, performing procedures for patients and providing technical services and support. Successful performance contributes to a holistic approach to the delivery of services, improved patient care, and a high level of satisfaction from patients and families. The PCT may also provide visual monitoring of Telesitter patients to ensure patient safety.
Clinical Excellence/Patient Care
Assists patients with activities of daily living.
Answers patient call lights.
Assists with simple procedures as defined in work area.
Takes and records vital signs and weights. Monitors and records intake and output.
Transports patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens, including transport of patients with traction.
Views and possesses knowledge of Telesitter monitors and related equipment.
Assists in maintaining a clean, orderly and safe environment.
Performs procedures specific to the assigned area.
Utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area.
Obtains adequate blood specimens as defined in work area. Labels all specimens in accordance with standards.
Documents care in the electronic medical record.
Must be active on the Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry OR must be at a Junior status or higher in an accredited nursing program. Previous healthcare experience is preferred.
