Provides direct patient care and both clerical/clinical duties for patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse. Supports patients during procedures.
Answers questions and provides information to patients/clients, third party payers and other health care personnel as instructed. (F) Documents appropriate information in the chart. Completes patient forms. Files correspondence and medical records, including progress notes, diagnostic information, professional correspondence and xrays. (F) Measure and record patient’s statistical data and medical history at the request of the provider (O) Assists with simple and complex procedures; i.e., specimen collection, application of splints, measuring crutches, application of ice pack, removal of dressings, procedure prep (F) Takes and records vital signs, height and weight (F) Performs vision exam and color vision exam (F) Handles emergencies as necessary under direction of nursing personnel (O) Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly environment. (C) Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule (C) Utilizes a family centered approach (considering bio-psychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients and families served in the assigned service area. (C) Obtains accurate and adequate specimens; labels all specimens in accordance with standards. (F) Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations. (C) Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately (C) Integrates and demonstrates CORE values and Expectations for Personal and Service Excellence to guide professional behaviors, while adhering to the policies and procedures of UPHDM. Must be 18 years old or older. High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 75 hour CNA certification required. Indicate on your application which CNA certification you possess (75 hour, 120 hour or 150 hour). Only applications with this information indicated will be considered. Dept of Labor Level III (Medium) Work. Candidates must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment strength and agility test at Medium Level of Work.
