RFA Engineering Mechanical Engineer - Designer in Des Moines, Iowa

RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer or Designer to support new product development related to vehicle display panels, sensor mounting and electrical harness design. The assignment will be based in Urbandale, IA at our client's R&D center.

Job Description

The job duties for these positions are associated with mechanical design including:

  • Design new electronics enclosures to place in appearance critical areas of vehicles.

  • Design highly ruggedized enclosures and structural mountings for new vehicle sensors.

  • Work with various vehicle design groups to ensure part space claims and fit-up

  • Design prototype and production vehicle electrical harness

  • Work with internal resources and external sources for prototype procurement

  • Complete engineering documentation as required.

  • Work with suppliers, product verification and validation, and product design to implement modifications and new systems to correct problems

  • Lead and facilitate quality planning and execution discussions as required

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in mechanical design related curriculum including but not limited to Mechanical, Agricultural, Engineering Physics or Aerospace engineering.

  • Experience with of PTC Creo or similar 3D CAD modeling program

  • Experience with design of sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing processes

  • Experience with wire harness design in a 3D CAD environment

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments

  • Ability to thrive in a team environment

  • Self-Motivated - Able to work independently effectively

Desired Attributes

  • Familiarity with Capital Harness harness design software

  • Experience with design of injection molded parts

  • General knowledge of electronic component

  • Design experience or exposure to off-road mobile equipment
