Health Policy Director
Anthem is seeking a Health Policy Director to join our Public Policy Team .
The Anthem Public Policy team is looking to fill one position at the Director level.
The Health Policy Director will be responsible for leading a portfolio of public policy issues, as well as assisting policy team members on a broad range of policy issues.
The Health Policy Director’s primary duties will include, but are not limited to:
Working on a portfolio of specific public policy issues, to include, but are not limited to: Social Determinants of Health, Medicaid, Medigap, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
Also assisting with issues, including, but not limited to: Federal Employee Program, Federal Employees Health Benefits, and Medicare Administrative Contractors policy issues.
Assisting other policy team members on issues in their portfolios, as needed.
As part of this work, the Health Policy Director will work with internal experts and leadership to develop public policy positions in support of enterprise goals and objectives
Fostering relationships with Public Affairs staff, business leaders, and subject matter experts to ensure policy positioning supports Anthem’s goals and reflects and leverages all resources and expertise.
Monitoring and evaluating proposed legislation and regulations, while identifying public policy issues, assessing the impact, and developing recommendations.
Leading and developing comment letters in response to proposed Federal regulations and significant sub-regulatory guidance.
Ensuring the availability of talking points and materials, coordinating related activities, and facilitating the flow of information between impacted areas.
Working with Compliance and Regulatory Affairs teams, ensuring these teams have timely information needed to move forward on the implementation of key legislation or regulations.
Participating in workgroups hosted by external industry/trade groups.
Serving as a resource to Anthem associates.

Health Policy Director Requirements:
BA/BS in a related field
8 years of experience in health policy development or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background
5 years’ experience leading and developing comment letters in response to proposed Federal regulations and/or significant sub-regulatory guidance
Proven experience analyzing and developing clear and concise communications addressing policy proposals, legislation, and regulation
Strong analytical and communications skills, including the ability to translate complex ideas into understandable and compelling communications
Strong writing skills, including ability to develop persuasive arguments in support of recommendations
Experience conducting presentations (In person and virtual)
Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment focused on collaboration and achieving consensus, supporting common goals
Detail-oriented, well-organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple policy issues and projects simultaneously
