GENERAL SUMMARY :

Facilitates classroom

instruction and on-site support for identified billing curriculum for physician

office staff. Effectively presents and communicates educational information to

physician office and physician billing office staff. Conducts routine audits to

verify accuracy of demographic and insurance registration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Billing Instructor:

  • Providesappropriate classroom training on various computer applications by taking intoconsideration the unique abilities and learning styles of each student.

  • Presentseducational materials in an effective and efficient manner at Revenue IntegrityMeetings.

  • Evaluatestraining progress and competency of participants.

  • Effectively communicatestraining related issues and/or concerns with users and managers.

  • Conducts routineaudits to verify accuracy of demographic and insurance registration andcommunicates findings in a professional manner.

  • Participates incurriculum development and prepares training and support materials.

  • Maintainsexpertise in computer applications as necessary to meet the educational andtraining needs of physician office staff.

  • Maintains andtroubleshoots common problems relating to personal computers, portable computers,computer printers and AV equipment as used in training.

  • Effectivelycommunicates with immediate supervisor regarding issues/concerns and recommendssolutions.

  • Must be a selfstarter and able to work independently.

  • Works off shiftsas necessary to accommodate the work cycles of training participants.

  • Proactively continues to educate self to provide quality care and improveprofessional skills.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

  • High schooldiploma required.

  • Three years ofrecent health care experience in a physician office and/or physician billingoffice required.

  • Secondaryeducation or technical/vocational training related to healthcare preferred.

  • Demonstratesknowledge of clinic registration, scheduling, charge entry and back end billingprocesses.

  • Demonstrates theability to understand and utilize a highly complex billing system.

  • General knowledgeof physician office operations.

  • Experience inpreparing and presenting educational programs and training preferred.

  • Proficient use ofMicrosoft Office products, especially Excel, Word and Power Point.

  • Demonstratedknowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.

  • Excellentinterpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrates professional, appropriate, effective and tactful written,verbal, and nonverbal communication with patient, families, medical staff,colleagues, vendors, and other departments throughout the continuum of care topromote continuity of care and services and enhance department image
