Description:

The Drake University Intensive English Program invites applications for a part-time ESL Adjunct Instructor to begin January 2019. Course load may vary from semester to semester, but would typically be one to three courses. Courses are non-credit bearing and are taught within the Drake International department, as part of International Student and Scholar Services. Course methodologies are interactive and academic in focus. Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Spring session starts on January 28 and runs until May 17, 2019.

Duties:

Responsibilities will include:

All aspects of course development, planning, instruction and assessment of students.

Attendance at three required faculty meetings per semester. These meetings take place outside regular working hours.

Attendance at three required Teaching & Learning sessions per semester outside regular working hours.

Providing required reports on student attendance and academic progress.

Assisting with student TOEFL testing, placement, evaluating, advising, and intercultural orientation activities as arranged.

Participate in optional (and unpaid) events and activities that help students engage in the community and interact with native English speakers.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have a Master’s degree in language teaching (TESOL or Linguistics preferred) and experience with the TOEFL exam preparation.
