Part-time Casul (PRN) A Phlebotomist serves patients by identifying the best method for retrieving specimens; preparing specimens for laboratory testing; performing screening procedures. Also assists with patient experience, including performing clerical, reception, and billing duties.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:-Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization-Perform blood draws competently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible-Provide information and direction to hospital staff, visitors and patients in the laboratory.-Perform clerical functions, including use of personal computers, variety of software and office equipment.-Answer phones and greet patients, visitors and staff in professional and courtesy manner.-Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log; bringing discrepancies to the attention of unit personnel.-Display courteous, professional manner towards patients, co-workers, nursing and medical staff-Label and record all test tubes, log procedures and file paperwork-Demonstrate knowledge of color top tube to use, volume of blood needed and test requirements-Adhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.-Follow standard precautions at all times-Dispose all sharp instruments in a rigid sharp container-Clean and supply venipuncture trays-Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations-Complete assigned duties efficiently and in a timely manner-Prioritize STAT, scheduled, and outpatient orders-Seek guidance and direction when necessary-Demonstrate the value of team concept on a consistent basis-Enhances laboratory department and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:-Perform other duties as assignedProfessional Requirements-Complete annual education requirements.-Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.-Report to work on time and as scheduled.-Wear identification while on duty.-Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations.-Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.-Comply with all organizational policies-Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.-Attend regular staff meetings and in-services.
