Your Responsibilities

As a Safety Professional for John Deere in Davenport, IA, you will compile necessary data, documentation, and correspondence to comply with safety regulations and Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) requirements. In addition, you will:

  • Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify noncompliance with John Deere standards, processes, and applicable laws and regulations.

  • Participate in incident investigations and ergonomic reviews and assist in determining effective corrective action.

  • Communicate the results of analysis and interpretation to the appropriate workgroup for awareness and any required action.

  • Develop, direct and conduct safety presentations and training.

  • Participate in the reviews of new products, equipment, and processes for potential hazards and compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.

  • Utilize acquired knowledge to respond to both internal and external questions/requests for information relevant to safety and health issues.

What Skills You Need

  • Investigation skills to determine root cause and conduct trend analysis of incidents

  • Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution

  • Experience with manufacturing processes and factory operations

  • Experience with governmental/agency regulatory requirements or legislation, occupational health principles, occupational safety programs, and ergonomic principles, and ability to apply to workplace environments

  • Experience with regulatory agencies and company's standards for injury and illness reporting requirements necessary to document incidents

  • General understanding of incident investigation and injury and illness reporting requirements

  • General understanding of the principles and uses knowledge with assistance

  • General ability to work with multiple software programs, strong knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft office programs

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and factory operations

  • General understanding of ergonomic and industrial hygiene principles

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety discipline or in an Engineering or Science discipline
